AZiO KB336RP Wireless Keyboard
Review by Gina Kibiloski
The AZiO KB336RP wireless keyboard (Retail $69.99) was a joy to review as it
performed admirably as soon as the batteries and
mini USB receiver were inserted,
and the unit was
turned on. The overall
construction of this keyboard has a solid feel, and it provides solid
performance. In our testing, the keyboard was dropped a few times yet never
missed a beat. We particularly like the mute button at the top left of the
keyboard, which toggles the sound on and off. This is a very useful feature when
the phone rings and you need silence for a short time.
The AZiO KB336RP wireless
keyboard features enhanced long range wireless RF technology and was accurately tested in an open space of up to 150 feet.
So, you can rest assured that
this keyboard will pick up your input from just about anywhere in the room.
While this keyboard will work with Windows XP, it is optimized for use with
Windows 7 and Windows Media Center Editions (MCE). The glossy piano-black trim
and classy brushed aluminum finish ensures that this keyboard will nicely
compliment any Home Theater Personal Computer (HTPC) or Multimedia setup. A
built-in multi-touch track pad is conveniently located off to the right side of
the keyboard for
balanced, one-handed navigation. With true Plug and Play installation, you will
be surfing the Web and viewing media from your couch in a matter of seconds.
This brilliant keyboard provides 13 embedded MCE keys:
My TV,
My Video, My
Music, MCE, My Pictures, Record TV, DVD, Back Track, Next Track, Play/Pause, Stop, Vol+, Vol-, plus a volume slider. It also has 7 Internet hotkeys: Internet Home,
E-mail, Back, Forward, Search, Refresh, and Mute. The key touch is positive yet
almost silent. In multiple hours of testing this unit, we never once experienced a key
failure or wondered if the key had registered. This speaks well for the patented
scissor-key structure that was designed for positive response and super quiet
operation.
Our testing revealed an extremely durable, responsive, and feature-rich
keyboard that would be ideal for a wireless keyboard in an office environment,
or for use with a media center or a home theater personal computer. Few products
that we test at Computer Times work immediately out of the box in such a
stunning manner. The AZiO KB336RP wireless keyboard has earned our highest
recommendation and our Editors’ Choice award. All products should
be this dependable.
