Editors' Choice Bluetooth Headset

The New Jawbone

Reviewed by Angie Kibiloski

The New Jawbone (Retail $129.99) is a bluetooth headset that is not only a piece of innovative technology, but also a stylish fashion accessory. You will be pleased to wear this device both for its high quality and attractive design. The special NoiseAssassin system ensures that your callers hear you voice crisper and clearer than with other devices, and even better than with the original Jawbone.

NoiseAssassin is Jawbone’s patented technology that goes a step beyond the average noise canceling software. It successfully separates your voice from the ambient sounds and other voices around you. It does this by using advanced algorithms originally designed for military situations, like battlefields, where environmental noise is very significant. Through Jawbone’s dual microphones, and Voice Activity Sensor, NoiseAssassin accurately maps the unique frequency of your speech and separates that frequency pattern from the other background noises and even voices surrounding you. Even standing right next to a vigorously cascading water fountain and a screaming child in the shopping mall, my caller could still hear and understand my words quite clearly.

The sleek, minimalistic design is ergonomically molded to rest smoothly against your cheek for unobtrusive style. Two invisible buttons are hidden underneath the textured surface, and easily activated with a light touch. The Voice Activity Sensor, placed underneath the lower tip, sits against your cheekbone to detect your vocal vibrations. The New Jawbone comes in five fun and pretty colors: Blah Blah Black, Rambling Rose, Silver Tongue, Goldy Lips, and Babbling Blue. It also comes with a selection of 3 earbud sizes and 4 earloops, so everyone can customize a perfect fit. The earbuds are soft and comfortable, and the earloops come in either a stylish leather or a slim plastic for easy wear with glasses. Made of medical grade plastic, this device is durable and lightweight. The outer surface texture, which reflects light and makes a dynamic visual, is designed to mimic the peaks and valleys of a frequency map.

A helpful accessory to purchase along with your New Jawbone is the car charger (Retail $29.99). It plugs neatly into your cigarette lighter and quickly charges your New Jawbone on the go. Also available are the New Fit Earbuds (Free to order on the Jawbone website), that are molded with an extra little loop at the top, to fit more snugly into your ear. With these, I found there is no need for the earloop at all.

I was very impressed with the New Jawbone and its superiority to my other bluetooth headsets. It is high quality, very stylish, light, and easy to use. Once your callers hear you speaking through Jawbone’s NoiseAssassin tech, with its amazing clarity, they’ll want to get one themselves. This could make a great gift for that special someone on your phone list. For discount pricing, click on the link below.
