Zivio Boom Bluetooth Headset

Reviewed by Angie Kibiloski

In California, it is now illegal to talk on your cell phone while driving, unless you are using a hands free device such as a Bluetooth headset. There are many of these devices on the market, with different fits and functions. One of these products that has impressed me this year is the Zivio Boom (Retail $129.95) from Joby. This headset is not only functional and user-friendly, but unique and stylish as well.

The Zivio Boom is attractively designed, with a slim, elegant body, 3 large control buttons (volume up, down, and a multi function button), and either a black or light blue finish. It comes with 2 styles of ear buds in 3 sizes each, so anyone can find a comfortable fit. The neck of the speaker, where the ear bud is attached, can be pivoted for added custom comfort. You can wear the Zivio Boom just by fitting the ear bud into your ear, or attach the magnetic ear loop if you like the feeling of added support. This headset has the special feature of a flexible, retractable boom, to position the microphone closer to your mouth. Pull it out when you need to be heard over the background, or push it back in when you enter a quieter environment. Made of a special memory metal, Nitinol, the boom arm can be curved to hug your face. Chargeable with either a USB connection or wall charger, the battery life is fantastic, having a talk time of 10 hours and a standby of 200 hours. Compared to other headsets, it will seem like the Zivio Boom never runs out of juice. You can even find out how much battery you have left by simply tapping the function button. It will light up with different colors depending on your charge. You can easily mute your call, voice dial a new one, or with the touch of a button, redial the last number you entered.

At the light weight of 0.5 ounces, you will be able to wear this fashionable device for hours without feeling chained to your phone. The 6 different earpieces and adjustable pivoting speaker bud make this unit a perfect fit for anyone. The convenient buttons and programming make the Zivio Boom a pleasure to use, and the boom microphone gives this little beauty that extra special something. Hands down, the Zivio Boom makes being hands free a cinch!
